Iran warns of “catastrophic consequences” if US launches ground operation
Iran’s military has issued a stark warning to the United States, declaring that any potential ground invasion would result in severe consequences for American forces.
Speaking on behalf of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, Lieutenant-Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaghari said Iranian forces are fully prepared to respond should threats voiced by US President Donald Trump materialise, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
“Iran’s military is counting down the moments for the annihilation of US forces” in the event of any ground attack or occupation attempt, Zolfaghari stated, adding that Washington’s ambitions in the region are “nothing but a pipe dream.”
He further warned that “aggression and occupation will have no result other than disgraceful captivity, dismemberment, and the disappearance of the aggressors,” underscoring Tehran’s readiness for escalation.
The statement comes amid media reports suggesting that the Pentagon is considering preparations for a potential ground campaign in Iran if ongoing air operations fail to achieve their objectives.
In response, Iran has reportedly reinforced its defensive posture across key areas, including its southwestern border with Iraq—where US military bases are located—as well as the southeastern region near the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy corridor.
