Iran warns of swift response to US threats against infrastructure
Iran has warned it will respond decisively to any threats against its critical infrastructure, following remarks it says were made by the United States regarding potential attacks on key facilities.
Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said in a social media post that targeting infrastructure such as power plants and bridges would constitute a war crime, Iran International reports.
Gharibabadi stressed that “the Islamic Republic, relying on Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, will deliver a decisive and immediate response to any imminent aggression or threat.”
He further warned that the consequences of such actions would extend beyond Iran, adding that the US president should reconsider the rhetoric “before his name goes down in history as that of a super war criminal.”
