Iran warns: Strait of Hormuz closure looms if US joins Israeli aggression
Iran has signaled that it will keep the Strait of Hormuz open for the time being but warned that it may close the strategic waterway if the United States and its Western allies, referred to by Tehran as the “Global Arrogance,” directly join Israel in military aggression.
Seyyed Ali Yazdi Khah, a member of the Iranian parliament, emphasized that Iran possesses multiple options to safeguard its national interests and will not hesitate to employ them if necessary, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
“While Iran will not close the Strait of Hormuz at present, should the Global Arrogance align directly with the Israeli regime, Tehran will consider shutting the vital passageway as a prudent and effective measure,” Yazdi Khah stated.
He further clarified that the Islamic Republic will permit freedom of navigation through the Strait only insofar as Iranian strategic interests remain secure.
The Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments, remains a potential flashpoint amid escalating regional tensions, with Tehran underscoring its readiness to take decisive action to protect its sovereignty and security.
