Iranian Army swears allegiance to new leader Mojtaba Khamenei

The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces and the central command of the military, Khatam al-Anbiya, issued a statement confirming their support for Mojtaba Khamenei following his election as Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Iran International reports.

In the statement, the country congratulated Khamenei on his appointment, while the armed forces and their commanders vowed loyalty, pledging to follow his orders and mobilise all available resources to defend the Islamic Republic.

The statement emphasised that Iran’s military would act “more powerfully and decisively than before” to preserve the achievements of the Islamic Revolution, warning that adversaries—particularly the United States—would face resistance from Iranian forces defending the country’s security and interests under the leadership of the new Supreme Leader.
