Azerbaijani, Iranian top officials discuss regional ceasefire in phone talks Updated
The foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Iran held a telephone conversation on April 8 to discuss the current security situation in the region and the recently declared ceasefire.
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov welcomed the ceasefire, emphasising the importance of maintaining it to reduce tensions, ensure the successful conclusion of negotiations, and restore stability. He highlighted the role of mediating countries, particularly Pakistan, in facilitating the agreement, Caliber.Az reports via the country's Foreign Ministry.
Bayramov also stressed the significance of resolving disputes through diplomatic channels and expressed hope that upcoming talks in Islamabad would be productive and result-oriented. He reiterated Azerbaijan’s readiness to support initiatives aimed at promoting lasting peace, security, and regional cooperation.
The ministers additionally touched on other matters of mutual interest, reinforcing the ongoing dialogue between the two neighboring countries.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov held a telephone conversation to discuss the latest developments in the region and bilateral relations, according to a post on Araghchi’s official Telegram channel.
