Iranian commander declares readiness to strike back at any aggression
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards ground forces commander declared on January 15 that the military is fully prepared to respond to any hostile moves.
“Our readiness is at the highest possible level,” Mohammad Karami warned, adding that the armed forces were prepared to give a decisive response to any mistake by their enemies, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Iran has seen nearly three weeks of widespread protests, considered by some as the largest in a decade.
The unrest started following a sharp decline in the national currency, but soon expanded into broad political demonstrations demanding the government’s ouster.
Official and media sources report over 2,000 deaths, a figure confirmed by Vice President Ahmad Musavi, while the US-based human rights group HRANA suggests fatalities have likely exceeded 2,500.
