Iranian consul claims Israel seeks control over Iraqi land
Iran’s consul in Najaf alleged that Israel is attempting to obtain land in Babil province, suggesting that Iraq is included in a larger “Greater Israel” initiative.
Saeed Sedeen stated that Israeli attempts to acquire property in the al-Kifl region have existed for decades, noting that a 1938 religious ruling previously prevented such transactions, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
He accused Israel and the United States of pursuing “expansionist goals” in the area, framing recent attacks on Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) sites in Iraq as part of this agenda.
“The PMF is a key pillar of Iraq’s strength,” Sedeen said, emphasising that its positions have been repeatedly targeted despite being part of the state’s security framework.
