Iranian diplomat blames US for escalation of Ukraine conflict
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei has pointed to the United States and other Western nations as the primary culprits behind the escalation of the Ukrainian conflict.
"We have never been a party to the Ukrainian conflict. We are convinced that the interference in the conflict by Western countries, in particular, the United States, was one of the causes of its escalation. We insist on a peaceful and diplomatic settlement of the crisis by its parties. We call on external players to stop fueling this confrontation," Baghaei stated during a briefing, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
Since 2022, the United States and the European Union have imposed multiple rounds of sanctions on Iran, accusing it of supplying military aid to Russia.
Both Russian and Iranian officials, however, have consistently rejected these claims. Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov dismissed reports of Iranian ballistic missile and drone supplies to Russia as false.
