Iranian FM: Any provocations in Strait of Hormuz to worsen situation

Any provocations in the Strait of Hormuz risk worsening the situation in the region. This warning was issued by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi during a phone call with his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot, according to Tasnim.

“Araghchi (…) added that the Strait of Hormuz is closed to vessels of parties involved in military aggression against Iran (…). He also emphasised that any provocative actions by the aggressors and their supporters, including at the UN Security Council, regarding the situation in the Strait of Hormuz would only complicate matters,” the report notes.

According to the agency, the French Foreign Minister, in turn, reaffirmed Paris’s position, opposing “a forced war against Iran and attacks on civilian targets.”
