Iranian FM considers direct talks with US senseless

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that direct negotiations with the United States make no sense.

“Direct talks with a party that constantly threatens to use force <...> and that expresses contradictory positions through its various officials make no sense,” the foreign minister said, Caliber.Az reports, citing French media.

On March 7, US President Donald Trump said he had sent a message to Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei offering to hold talks on the nuclear program. Tehran refused a direct dialogue with Washington, but allowed the continuation of negotiations through mediators.
