Iranian FM: Iran assessing Washington’s proposal for talks VIDEO
The Iranian foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, has said Tehran is considering a proposal from Washington for talks, signalling a possible opening in strained relations between the two countries.
Speaking in comments to Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin, Araghchi said Iran was taking a cautious approach and would not rush its response, Caliber.Az reports.
“Obviously, Iran is confronting the world’s largest superpower, and they have not achieved any of their objectives, which is why they are asking for negotiations, and we are currently considering this option,” he said, referring to remarks by US President Donald Trump, who recently described himself as a “winner”.
Araghchi stressed that Tehran would act in a “measured and considered” manner when deciding whether to engage in dialogue with Washington.
