Iranian forces kill 13 terrorists, arrest several in southeastern raids VIDEO
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has conducted three separate operations targeting terrorist groups in Iran’s southeastern Sistan and Balouchestan province, killing and detaining dozens of militants.
According to a statement released by the IRGC Ground Force’s Quds Base, the operations were carried out in coordination with the country’s Intelligence Ministry, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
The joint operations, launched in the early hours of Wednesday, August 27, in the cities of Iranshahr, Khash, and Saravan, resulted in the deaths of 13 terrorists, while several others were taken into custody.
Separately, the spokesperson for the Law Enforcement Command of the Islamic Republic of Iran (FARAJA), General Saeed Montazeralmahdi, confirmed that those responsible for a recent deadly assault on a police base in Iranshahr had been neutralised.
He said the coordinated action, conducted early Wednesday with support from security and intelligence agencies, killed eight terrorists involved in the attack on the ‘Daman’ Police Station, where police personnel were martyred.
Montazeralmahdi added that a large stockpile of weapons and ammunition had been seized from the militants, including arms stolen during the raid on the police facility.
The crackdown follows the August 22 ambush on two police patrol units along the Khash-Iranshahr road in Sistan and Balouchestan, in which five police officers were martyred. The attackers escaped the scene after the assault.
The terrorist group known as Jaish al-Adl has claimed responsibility for that deadly attack in Iranshahr’s Daman district.
