Iranian lawmaker signals indefinite Hormuz restrictions on US, Israeli vessels
10 April 2026 11:50
A senior Iranian lawmaker has said a parliamentary proposal would ban oil tankers linked to the United States and Israel from passing through the Strait of Hormuz “forever”, in a move that signals further escalation in maritime tensions around one of the world’s most critical shipping lanes.
Ebrahim Azizi, head of parliament’s national security committee, said on April 10 that vessels tied to Israel or travelling to or from it would also be barred from transiting the strategic waterway, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
“This ban will also include countries that act against the resistance front.”
