Iranian MP warns of move toward full-scale war in Strait of Hormuz
Iranian parliament member Fada-Hossein Maleki warned that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz has moved beyond isolated incidents and is heading toward a full-scale war.
According to Iran International, Maleki said the Islamabad agreement has lost its value for Tehran following recent US actions. He argued that Washington had effectively disregarded the understandings reached under the agreement, just as it had previously withdrawn from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iran’s nuclear deal with world powers.
Commenting on developments in the Persian Gulf, the Iranian lawmaker pointed to rising tensions along one of the world’s most strategically important maritime routes. Maleki noted that recent events in the Strait of Hormuz can no longer be viewed as separate confrontations, as they are “moving in the direction of a full-scale war.”
