Iranian lawmakers urge approval of ICBM development

A group of Iranian lawmakers has called on Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei to authorise the development of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), according to a report by the Iranian newspaper Asriran.

The appeal was signed by 85 legislators, who voiced scepticism over Washington’s stance in ongoing negotiations with Tehran aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

The report said the letter also bore the signatures of several hardline figures, including former Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, who has publicly opposed engagement with the United States.
