Iranian MP escapes assassination attempt, suspects in custody

An assassination attempt against Abbas Bigdeli, a lawmaker representing Takestan in the Iranian parliament, failed on Friday (February 27), authorities said. Bigdali was unharmed.

The Qazvin provincial prosecutor said two motorcyclists opened fire on the vehicle carrying Bigdeli using shotguns. Both suspects were arrested at the scene, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

Officials said the attack is not being treated as a terrorist incident, and investigations are ongoing.
