Iranian official slams Trump’s strikes on Iran as major strategic mistake
Chairman of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has sharply criticised US President Donald Trump’s military strikes on Iran, labeling them a major strategic mistake.
He condemned President Trump’s decision to order military strikes on Iranian territory, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
Ghalibaf accused Trump of recklessly escalating tensions by effectively declaring war on Iran.
"The direct involvement of the US in the war signifies the Israeli regime’s inability to confront Iran. Ultimately, the US president has completed his strategic mistake by supporting the criminal gang of the Zionist regime and, through direct involvement, formalized America’s partnership in the war against Iran," he noted.
"It is clear to everyone that from the very beginning of the conflict, the US has been an inseparable part of the Israeli regime’s military operations. However, the brave defense of the Islamic Republic’s armed forces and the united support of the people thwarted the Israeli-American military plan against Iran. The US president was forced to reveal his deceitful nature once again and, despite all his anti-war campaign slogans, officially entered the war,” he added.
On June 13, Israel launched large-scale strikes targeting nuclear facilities and the locations of senior Iranian military leadership across multiple cities in the Islamic Republic. The attacks resulted in the deaths of Iran’s Chief of General Staff, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, several high-ranking military officials, and nine Iranian nuclear research specialists.
