Iran tends to boost cooperation, enhance trust with Azerbaijan
Iran’s Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh’s visit to Azerbaijan, along with security talks, underscores Tehran’s intention to enhance cooperation and build trust with its neighbours, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said during a briefing.
Baghai noted that the South Caucasus is of special interest to Iran, and regional stability is crucial for the country’s security, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
He added that the defence minister’s visit follows logically after a recent trip to Baku by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
“We consider these exchanges and consultations necessary to maintain and enhance trust and understanding among the countries of the region, and we evaluate them as a way to eliminate any possible suspicions regarding actions. Accordingly, we are determined to continue these talks,” Baghai said, noting that defence cooperation was a key topic of discussion.
He emphasised that the visit will further reinforce trust between the two nations.
