Iranian parliament speaker to visit Iraq for security talks

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf will lead a senior parliamentary delegation to Iraq on August 19 for talks focused on strengthening bilateral ties and addressing regional security, Iranian officials said.

The visit is expected to focus on developments across West Asia and efforts to deepen strategic cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad, Iranian media reports.

During the visit, Ghalibaf is scheduled to meet senior Iraqi officials and political leaders. Discussions are expected to cover border security, counter-terrorism efforts, economic cooperation and the implementation of existing bilateral agreements.

The two sides will also review mechanisms for promoting security and stability across the region.
