Iranian politician questions Pakistan’s suitability as mediator with US
23 April 2026 15:46
Former Iranian presidential candidate Amir-Hossein Ghazizadeh Hashemi has said that Pakistan is not a suitable mediator between Tehran and Washington, according to Iran International.
He argued that Islamabad’s financial dependence on Saudi Arabia, along with US influence over Pakistan’s security and military structures, undermines its neutrality in potential diplomatic talks.
Hashemi also claimed that “the presence of intelligence and financial networks from the United Arab Emirates in Pakistan’s Balochistan region, as well as support for separatist groups, makes the country an unsuitable venue for negotiations.”
