Iranian president departs for China to attend in SCO summit
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has departed Tehran for China to take part in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
He is set to hold high-level meetings during his visit, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
Pezeshkian is said to attend a military parade in Beijing.
The 25th SCO Summit, held from August 31 to September 1, 2025, in Tianjin, China, marks the fifth time China has hosted the annual event and is the largest in the organization’s history. Hosted at the Tianjin Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center, the summit brings together leaders from over 20 countries and heads of 10 international organizations, reflecting its growing global influence.
Chinese President Xi Jinping chairs the summit, presiding over the Meeting of the Council of Heads of State and the "SCO Plus" Meeting, where he will deliver keynote speeches outlining China’s vision for the SCO’s future.
