Iranian president visits Iraqi Kurdistan for high-level talks
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has commenced an official visit to the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, engaging in crucial discussions with key regional leaders.
Pezeshkian arrived in Erbil on September 12, marking the second day of his state visit to Iraq, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
During his visit, President Pezeshkian met with Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, where they addressed matters of mutual interest and regional cooperation.
The meeting underscored the importance of strengthening ties between Iran and the Kurdish autonomous region.
Additionally, Pezeshkian held talks with Masoud Barzani, the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and former president of the Kurdish region. These discussions were aimed at enhancing bilateral relations and exploring opportunities for further collaboration between Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan.
The Iranian president has described cooperation for regional development as the guiding principle of his administration’s foreign policy.
