Iran warns of retaliation for attacks on infrastructure

10 July 2026 17:06

Any attack targeting Iran’s infrastructure would trigger a reciprocal response, Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, has warned.

He said Israel would also face retaliation if it supported such actions, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.

In a message issued in reaction to remarks by US President Donald Trump, Zolqadr stated: "The most hated figure in the world has once again addressed the great and grieving people of Iran in the manner befitting himself."

He further claimed that Trump had been angered by what he described as the significant turnout of Iranian and Iraqi mourners at the funeral of Ali Khamenei.

Reiterating Tehran's position on potential attacks, Zolqadr said: "As we have previously announced, any attack on infrastructure will be met with reciprocal action, and the criminal Zionist regime, which is behind these acts of aggression, will not be spared the response of (Iranian) fighters."

The body of martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei was laid to rest next to the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad, northeast Iran, after days of massive farewell and funeral ceremonies in Tehran, Qom, and Iraq.
