Iraq’s PM condemns strikes on Al-Hashd al-Shaabi headquarters
Mohammed Shia al-Sudani strongly condemned overnight strikes that targeted the headquarters of the pro-Iranian armed group Popular Mobilisation Forces inside Iraq.
In a statement published on the Iraqi government’s official Telegram channel, al-Sudani described the attacks as a serious violation and warned that such actions threaten the country’s security and stability.
“This systematic and repeated act of aggression targeting facilities and headquarters without distinction is not merely a military violation but a desperate attempt to spread chaos, undermine civil peace, and destroy the security achievements attained through the blood and sacrifices of Iraqi fighters,” the statement said.
Al-Sudani added that Baghdad considers the deaths of Iraqi fighters a matter of national responsibility.
“We emphasise that the blood of our fighters is our sacred duty, and we will not allow Iraq to become an arena for settling scores or a stage for violating national dignity,” he said.
According to media reports, 30 people were killed, and another 50 were wounded as a result of the strikes on the positions of the Popular Mobilisation Forces, also known as Al-Hashd al-Shaabi.
