Iraq thwarts hundreds of cyberattacks targeting nation, security forces
Iraq’s National Security Service has prevented 270 cyberattacks originating both domestically and abroad, while also detecting attempts to incite chaos and target law enforcement, an official said.
Spokesperson Arshad al-Hakim stated that the agency reviewed 1,043 social media accounts, shutting down multiple websites and accounts spreading disinformation, Caliber.Az reports via Qatar News Agency (QNA).
Eight individuals, including a foreign national, were arrested on suspicion of inciting public unrest and spreading hate speech.
Authorities also confiscated 849 concealed mobile phones and SIM cards from Iraqi prisons. To strengthen security, the Joint Operations Command reinforced the external perimeter of prisons in Babylon, Nasiriyah, Taji, and the Central Baghdad Complex, adding additional guard posts and modern surveillance systems.
