IRGC claims American troops killed, wounded in strikes on bases in Kuwait

23 July 2026 12:26

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed on Thursday (July 23) that its strikes on US military facilities in Kuwait killed and wounded several American personnel, describing the attacks as retaliation for recent US military actions against Iran.

In a statement addressed to the people of Kuwait, the IRGC said it had targeted the Ali Al-Salem Air Base, claiming to have struck a military depot, a Patriot air defence system and a hangar housing MQ-9 drones.

The statement also said Iranian forces attacked US troop accommodation, two helicopter hangars and a communications tower at Camp Al-Adairi, alleging that the strikes caused additional damage to military infrastructure and aircraft.

The IRGC said the attacks were intended as retaliation for recent US strikes on Iran and accused Washington of military interference in the Strait of Hormuz.

The statement further rejected claims that Iran had violated Kuwait's sovereignty, arguing that US military installations in the country operate under American control. The IRGC asserted that the bases are governed by US military authority and legal jurisdiction.

In addition, the Iranian side claimed to have struck a US telecommunications tower in the region. The IRGC also said it had carried out strikes on US military bases in Jordan.
