IRGC official: Iran hit over 150 targets in response to Israeli airstrikes

14 June 2025 10:50

Iran had carried out a large-scale retaliatory operation against Israeli targets, following Israeli airstrikes in Tehran and other locations, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) commander’s senior advisor Brigadier General Ahmadi Vahidi announced late on June 13.

Speaking on state television, Vahidi said that the Iranian operation, dubbed "True Promise III,” targeted multiple military and strategic sites in Israel, including the Nevatim and Ovda airbases, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media

According to the Iranian official, those facilities house Israel’s command and control infrastructure and electronic warfare capabilities, and were allegedly involved in launching the earlier attacks on Iran.

Additional targets reportedly included the Tel Nof airbase near Tel Aviv, Israel’s Ministry of Defence, and various military-industrial centres in the city. Vahidi claimed that more than 150 targets had been identified and hit in multiple waves using hundreds of missiles. The IRGC stated that the strikes penetrated Israel’s multi-layered air defence systems.

The general said the Israeli regime made a “grave miscalculation” to attack Iran, warning that the “Zionists should brace themselves for its consequences.”

The operation was launched hours after a wave of Israeli airstrikes hit several locations in Iran, including residential areas in Tehran. Iranian state media reported that several senior military figures were killed, including Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri, IRGC Commander Major General Hossein Salami, and IRGC Aerospace Force Commander Major General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, along with at least six nuclear scientists.

In a statement, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei condemned the Israeli strikes, vowing a “severe punishment” and warning that Israel had set itself on a path toward “a bitter, painful fate.”
