IRGC says blacklisted oil tanker reached Iran despite US pressure

Iran has claimed that a sanctioned supertanker passed through the Strait of Hormuz into Iranian waters despite what it described as a US blockade.

The statement was published by the Telegram channel of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

“According to TankerTrackers, one non-Iranian VLCC supertanker with a capacity of 2 million barrels, which was placed on the OFAC blacklist due to violations of sanctions against Iran, recently passed through the Strait of Hormuz into Iran; the Automatic Identification System (AIS) was turned on,” the statement said.

The report did not provide additional details on the vessel’s identity, ownership, or cargo, and could not be independently verified at the time of publication.
