The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it intercepted and destroyed two armed drones over Iran late on March 19, according to Tasnim, citing the corps’ press service.
The first incident occurred at 23:50, March 18, when an Orbiter drone was shot down over Tehran. A second unmanned aerial vehicle, identified as an advanced Heron drone, was intercepted over Nazarabad.
The IRGC stated that both drones were armed and were attempting to carry out an operation involving the launch of a cruise missile targeting the city of Qazvin.
According to the statement, the drones were neutralised by the IRGC’s air defence systems operating under the country’s integrated national air defence network.
