IRGC warns war with Iran could expand beyond region if strikes resume

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has warned that any renewed military strikes on Iran could escalate into a conflict extending beyond the Middle East, raising the risk of a wider international confrontation.

In a statement released on May 20, the IRGC said its adversaries had “not learned lessons” from what it described as repeated strategic failures against Iran. 

It claimed that despite facing what it called two of the world’s most powerful militaries, Iran had not yet deployed its full range of capabilities.

The statement cautioned that if “invasion” or attacks on Iran were to be repeated, a regional war could turn “transregional”, with Tehran capable of striking targets in unexpected locations.

“We are people of war, and you will see our power on the battlefield, not in empty statements and social media,” the group said.
