IRIB: Third round of Iran-US consultations to determine outcome of talks

The third round of consultations between Iranian and US delegations, scheduled for the evening of Saturday, April 11, in Islamabad, will determine how productive the negotiations between the two sides are, according to IRIB.

“The third round will determine whether the negotiations are fruitful or not,” the broadcaster said.

The April 11 negotiations in Islamabad were set in motion by a recent large-scale military escalation and a tenuous ceasefire, as the United States and Iran came to the table following weeks of conflict that unsettled the region and disrupted global energy markets, intensifying diplomatic pressure to avert further confrontation.

They also stem from months of earlier diplomatic efforts, including indirect engagements between the US and Iran in Oman and other venues in early 2026, which largely centered on Tehran’s nuclear program but ultimately failed to yield a durable agreement amid ongoing sanctions and persistent security tensions.
