Israel attacks 200 Hamas targets in Gaza Discovers tunnel under mosque/VIDEO
The Israel Defence Forces reports that a tunnel under a mosque has been found in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
Over the past 24 hours, the Israeli Air Force attacked about 200 Hamas facilities, including factories and workshops where weapons were produced, anti-tank missile launching sites and terrorist headquarters, Caliber.Az reports, citing the IDF Press Service.
In addition, last night the Israeli navy attacked a camp used by the Hamas navy for training purposes and weapons storage.
The IDF further reported that the Israeli soldiers uncovered a terror tunnel shaft in a mosque.
During ground operations, IDF troops uncovered a terror tunnel shaft located in a mosque in the Gaza Strip. Following the guidance of ground troops, IDF fighter jets and helicopters struck a terrorist cell that launched anti-tank missiles at the soldiers.
Over the past day, the IAF struck 200 terror targets, including terrorist operatives, weapon production sites, anti-tank missile launchers and operational command centres.
Overnight, Israeli naval soldiers struck a military camp used by Hamas’ naval forces for training and weapons storage.
In an interview with US TV channel Fox News, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel aims at the complete destruction of the Hamas group because otherwise, it will pose a danger not only to the Middle East but also to Western countries.
"We must win not only for our own sake but for the sake of the Middle East, our Arab neighbours ... If we don't win now, Europe and you (the US) are next," Netanyahu said.
"Every American, every civilised country will be threatened. We have to win. And there is no substitute for victory. Only total victory," the Israeli prime minister noted.
He reiterated his opposition to a ceasefire without the release of all Israeli hostages. According to him, this would mean that Israel has "surrendered to Hamas."
Netanyahu also commented on protests in support of Palestinians in various countries, pointing out that "we will not give in to pressure." "We are doing what is right and will win this war for us and for humanity and civilisation," he said.
In addition, Netanyahu held a closed-door meeting with members of the Israeli government and with the government's legal minister, Gali Baarav-Miara, on the consequences of statements made by some ministers.
During the meeting, Baarav-Miara warned that statements by individual ministers "fuelled our enemies because they contravene international law and could be considered war crimes."
The prime minister demanded that ministers think before they speak: "You must learn to keep quiet and not say things you will regret the next day."
The main criticism of Baarav Miara and Netanyahu concerned remarks by Agriculture Minister Avi Dichter about the 2023 Nakba and Jerusalem Affairs Minister Amihai Eliyahu about the use of nuclear weapons as a way to fight terror from the Gaza Strip.
Later today, the Israel Defence Forces suspended hostilities in Gaza City for four hours to allow the remaining residents to leave it, Israeli army spokesman Avihai Edri has said.
"Today we will temporarily suspend hostilities during the day, namely from 10:00 to 14:00 in the Daraj Tuffa area," he wrote on his social network X page.
Edri also said that the humanitarian corridor for the evacuation of residents of the northern areas of the Gaza Strip will be back in operation from 09:00 to 16:00 local time. The route will follow the Salah al-Din road to the south of the enclave.
In addition, the Israeli military will allow residents of the Al-Shati Palestinian refugee camp to leave from 10:00 to 16:00 local time due to the ongoing fighting there.
