Israel claims Iran campaign may end this week with US support
Israel’s ongoing offensive against Iran, dubbed “Operation Rising Lion” (Am KeLavi), could be wrapped up in a matter of days if the United States joins the campaign, a senior Israeli official said on June 17.
The operation, originally expected to last up to three weeks, involves Israeli strikes deep into Iranian territory, targeting key nuclear facilities, military infrastructure, and command-and-control centres, Caliber.Az reports, citing Israeli media.
The Israeli military has submitted a detailed plan to the country’s political leadership, outlining broad strategic objectives across Iran.
“If the US joins the campaign and supports Israel, it will be possible to achieve the operation's objectives and bring the fighting to an end by the end of this week,” a senior Israeli official told the outlet.
Note that, Israel launched a high-stakes military operation, Operation Rising Lion, targeting dozens of nuclear and military sites across Iran on June 13, marking a dramatic escalation in long-simmering tensions.
At the outset, Israel used airstrikes and covert drone activity—guided by Mossad intelligence—to dismantle Iran's air defences, hit uranium-enrichment facilities in Natanz and Isfahan, and eliminate senior commanders within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
In response, Iran launched over 150 ballistic missiles and more than 100 drones at Israel, causing civilian casualties and prompting missile alerts over Tel Aviv and Haifa.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards framed the strike as self-defence and vowed further retaliation unless Israel halted its campaign.
