Israel says Khamenei killed in initial strike

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in the “initial strike” of a military operation against Iran, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said on social network X.

“Tyrant Khamenei was eliminated in the initial strike of the Operation Roaring Lion, along with other senior figures in the Iranian terrorist stronghold,” Katz wrote, adding: “Justice has prevailed, and the axis of evil has suffered a deadly blow.”

Katz also emphasised that Israel “will continue to act with full force to defend the State of Israel.”
