Israel, US convey message to Tehran: no further attacks unless Iran strikes again
Israel and the United States conveyed a message to Iran through mediators that there would be no further attacks if Iran does not fire again, Israeli Hayom reports, citing a regional diplomatic source.
This message comes in the wake of a sharp overnight escalation that tested the fragile April 2026 ceasefire.
On the night of June 7, Iran launched missile strikes targeting Israeli positions, marking the first such attack since the April truce, in apparent retaliation for recent Israeli actions in Lebanon, including strikes on Beirut suburbs.
Israel responded with its own strikes on Iranian targets, including military sites and energy infrastructure, escalating fears of a broader regional conflict despite US diplomatic efforts.
