Israeli forces enter southern Syria, withdraw after brief incursion
Israeli forces advanced into the town of Bir Ajam and the village of Bariqa in the southern countryside of Quneitra Governorate, southwest Syria, SANA reports.
An Israeli unit consisting of two vehicles—a Hilux and a Humvee—entered from the Bir Ajam access point toward Bariqa, halted near the Kabas well for approximately 10 minutes, and then withdrew from the area.
Israel’s actions continue to violate the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through incursions into southern Syria, as well as through raids, arbitrary arrests, forced displacement, and land leveling that directly impact civilians.
Damascus has repeatedly demanded the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Syrian territory, stressing that “all measures taken by Israel in southern Syria are null and void and carry no legal effect under international law.”
Syria has called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities, deter these practices, and ensure a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Syrian territory.
