Israeli media: Biden to ask Lapid to start arms supplies to Ukraine
Columnist of the Israeli news service Walla Barak Ravid has said, citing his sources in the American delegation, that US President Joe Biden will ask Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid to start supplying defensive weapons to Ukraine.
Arms deliveries remain the latest topic in which there are differences between the US and Israel over the war in Ukraine, according to NEWSru.co.il.
Earlier, the United States has repeatedly appealed to Israel with a request to expand military assistance to Ukraine, but Jerusalem has so far denied these demands to Washington. Israel refused to allow Germany to supply Ukraine with anti-tank missiles produced under Israeli technology and license.
On July 13, the day before Biden visited Israel, Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz approved the shipment of another batch of helmets and body armour to Ukraine. However, the helmets and body armour supplied by Israel to Ukraine do not have a sufficient protection level and are not intended for military operations.
