Israeli president calls Hamas attack "scar on the Earth's face"
Israel seeks peace and prosperity in the Middle East, and the entire international community must provide unwavering support in this endeavour.
This statement was made by Isaac Herzog, President of Israel, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the attack by the Palestinian militant group Hamas, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Early in the morning, Herzog visited the Kibbutz Reim, located near the Gaza Strip, where he led memorial events commemorating the anniversary of the Hamas attack that began on October 7, 2023.
He referred to the attack as a "scar on the face of the Earth" and assured that the Israeli government will continue to do everything possible to secure the return of hostages still held in Gaza.
"The world must realize and understand that to change the course of history and establish peace and a better future in the region, it must support Israel in its fight against enemies," Herzog stated.
He added, "We are engaged in a battle for a free world. We are fighting for a better future for the region. We are fighting for the future of peace. This cannot be achieved without allowing us to defeat our enemies and bring peace and a better direction for the entire region.”
