Israeli strikes hit water facilities in southern Lebanon
Israeli strikes have damaged critical water infrastructure in southern Lebanon, disrupting essential services, the South Lebanon Water Establishment confirmed, Al Jazeera reports.
In a statement carried by the official Lebanese National News Agency, the civilian authority said that attacks hit facilities in Ibl al-Saqi and al-Maysat, causing significant damage. Solar power systems were also affected at the al-Zahiriya station in Qanarit and at Eastern Well No. 1, further compounding the impact on water supply operations.
The authority strongly condemned the strikes, describing them as attacks on essential civilian infrastructure.
“The targeting of vital facilities, especially water facilities, is a clear and explicit violation of all international conventions and norms that require the neutrality of institutions and facilities that provide basic services to civilians from acts of war,” the statement said.
