Istanbul police detain 17 in ISIS-linked operation
In Istanbul, Turkish security forces have detained 17 suspects in a coordinated operation targeting alleged links to ISIS, according to authorities.
The Istanbul Police Department’s Counter-Terrorism Unit, acting under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, conducted an investigation aimed at disrupting and identifying the activities of the group, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
Officials said the suspects had been identified as individuals believed to have maintained contact with members operating in conflict zones and were assessed as posing a potential threat to Türkiye’s security.
Following the identification of their identities and addresses, simultaneous raids were carried out at multiple locations across the city, resulting in the detention of all 17 suspects.
