Italian Saipem to lay pipeline under Black Sea

Italian oilfield services company Saipem will lay a pipeline to the area of the Sakarya gas field in the Turkish sector of the Black Sea.

The pipeline will be built as part of the second phase of development of the field in the Turkish sector of the Black Sea, Anadolu reports.

The company said the contract for the design, supply, construction and installation of the pipeline was signed between Saipem and TPAO TP-OTC, an offshore exploration and production subsidiary in the Sakarya gas field.

According to the contract, Saipem will lay the pipeline 175 kilometres long and 16 inches in diameter at a depth of 2,200 meters.

The project will start in the summer of 2024.
