Italy offers support to earthquake-hit Venezuela
Italy is prepared to assist Venezuela in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake and plans to ask the European Union to activate its Civil Protection Mechanism, Italian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani said.
“While the assessment of the damage and the number of victims caused by the earthquake is still ongoing, we stand ready to provide support and will ask the EU to activate the Civil Protection Mechanism to coordinate and finance emergency response measures,” Tajani wrote on X.

The earthquake struck Venezuela on the night of June 25, with two powerful tremors measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude recorded approximately 40 seconds apart. The epicentres were located about 10 kilometres apart in Venezuela’s Yaracuy state.
According to acting President Delcy Rodríguez, at least 32 people have been killed and around 700 injured, while dozens of buildings were destroyed by the disaster.
