Japan slams Russia's position on fishery around Kuril Islands

Hirokazu Matsuno, Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan, has openly criticized Russia’s refusal to coordinate consultations regarding the fishery by Japanese fishermen in the Russian economic zone around the Kuril Islands.

"It is unacceptable that the Russian side has taken such a step. We urge the Russian side to respond to the intergovernmental consultations as soon as possible so that fishing can start shortly", Kommersant quotes Matsuno as saying.
