Putin to visit China next week for bilateral talks, SCO summit
Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit China next week for extensive talks between the delegations of the two countries, journalist Pavel Zarubin said.
The working visit is scheduled to last four days, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
During the trip, Putin is also expected to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China, which will take place from August 31 to September 1.
More than 20 heads of state are expected to attend, including Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres. The summit will focus on regional security, sustainable development, the digital economy, and energy cooperation.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an intergovernmental organization founded in 2001 to strengthen regional security, promote economic cooperation, and support a multipolar world order. Its founding members were China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Over time, India, Pakistan, and Iran joined, with Belarus becoming the first European member in 2024.
