Joint NATO-Ukraine training center to open next week in Poland
The NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Preparation, and Education Center (JATEC), established following a decision at the alliance’s Washington summit in July 2024, will begin operations next week in the Polish city of Bydgoszcz.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte confirmed the launch while speaking to journalists on February 13, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
"Next week in Poland, we will initiate our joint structure involving Ukraine and NATO," he has been reported to have stated.
The creation of this analytical, training, and educational center was outlined in the final declaration of the NATO summit in Washington. Polish President Andrzej Duda first proposed the initiative during a 2022 meeting of alliance leaders in Madrid.
According to a statement given by Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Defence Stanislav Haider in September 2024, as reported by the ministry's press service, the centre will aim to support Ukraine in implementing procedures, approaches, and standards while facilitating the exchange of experience. "One of our primary goals is to achieve interoperability, and we are actively implementing measures to accomplish this,” he stated.
