Karabakh Armenians flee Armenia, official data says
Karabakh Armenians are leaving Armenia en masse, according to the local media outlets.
As of November 26, 2023, some 10,929 people registered in Karabakh, left the Republic of Armenia through air and ground checkpoints of the state border, 4,303 of whom returned, Armenian media quotes the National Security Service as saying.
Some 6,626 Karabakh Armenians left the country, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“This is a rather large figure for two months, and Pashinyan's confident assertion that Karabakh Armenians do not leave Armenia is perplexing. Moreover, we are talking about the months that are not usually considered a season for leaving, in other words, in early spring the number of those leaving will be higher," said political scientist Suren Surenyants as he commented on the information about Karabakh Armenians fleeing the country.
