"Karabakh was never ours,” Armenian PM Pashinyan says VIDEO

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called the movement for the unification of Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region with Armenia “a fatal mistake.” In a video circulated by foreign media, Pashinyan argued during a meeting with local residents that Karabakh was not Armenian.

“They say we lost lands. But how were those lands ours? How were they ours? Please explain: how were they ours?” Pashinyan said.

According to him, the territories had been “under the control of several generals” who used them for personal purposes.

"I do not want to speak ill of the dead, but let’s say this: they were under the control of several generals who, for example, planted wheat there — right?” he noted.

Pashinyan also argued that the territories had not undergone meaningful development.

“Did we build a school there? A kindergarten? A factory? Did we live there? Did we establish settlements? … So in what sense were they ours?” the Armenian prime minister stated.
