Kazakh leader posthumously honors servicemen killed in Caspian Sea drills

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has posthumously honored servicemen killed during naval exercises on the Caspian Sea in Mangystau Region.

“State awards have been conferred on them for courage and selflessness in the performance of their military duty,” the decree published on the president’s official website said.

According to the document, platoon commander Olzhas Mukhtaruly of military unit No. 29011 was posthumously awarded the Order of Aibyn, 2nd Class, named after Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, for courage and selflessness.

Another 13 servicemen from the same unit were posthumously awarded the Order of Aibyn, 3rd Class, named after Rakhimzhan Koshkarbayev. They included squad commanders, sailors and specialists.
