Kazakh president: Parliamentary elections - worthy continuation of large-scale changes
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has said that the elections to the Mazhilis (lower house) of the parliament and maslikhats (local representative bodies) on March 19 are a worthy continuation of large-scale changes.
“A new milestone in Kazakhstan’s political development began,” President Tokayev, who took part in a festive event on the occasion of the Nauryz holiday, said, Caliber.Az reports citing TASS.
“Elections to the Mazhilis and maslikhats, which are a significant step in promoting all our reforms, have been recently held. These elections have become a worthy continuation of large-scale changes. In other words, a new milestone in the political development of the country began. It is symbolic that this historical moment coincided with the celebration of Nauryz,” the Kazakh president’s press service said.
President Tokayev noted that a completely renewed political system will give a powerful impetus to Kazakhstan’s development.
“The ongoing reforms open the way for economic growth and higher income for the population. The reforms will certainly continue. We will become a comprehensively developed and strong country. This is our main goal,” the president added.
