Kazakh president set to visit Ashgabat for high-level neutrality forum
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is set to visit Turkmenistan’s capital, Ashgabat, on December 11–12.
During the visit, President Tokayev will take part in a major international forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, the International Day of Neutrality, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s status of permanent neutrality, Akorda reports.
The event is expected to bring together regional and international leaders to discuss the role of neutrality in strengthening global peace, stability, and diplomatic cooperation.
The year 2025, declared the Year of Peace and Trust by Turkmenistan and supported by a UN General Assembly resolution, represents a unique opportunity to strengthen joint efforts toward a just, inclusive, and sustainable future.
In line with the UN Secretary-General’s “New Agenda for Peace”, which underscores the importance of conflict prevention and sustaining peace, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) remains committed to translating this vision into concrete actions. Sustainable development and peace are deeply interconnected, requiring not only political cooperation but also dedicated efforts in economic development, environmental sustainability, gender equality, and the promotion of the rule of law and democracy.
